Confusion Arises as Assam CM Clarifies Unemployment Benefit Announcement
Guwahati, Assam: In a recent development that has sparked confusion among the people of Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has issued a clarification regarding a video in which he appeared to announce that Rs 2 lakh would be deposited into the bank accounts of every unemployed youth in the state without the need for any guarantees.

The initial video, which was shared by Nanda Pratim Sharma Bordoloi, Executive Editor of News Live on X, showed CM Himanta Biswa Sarma making what appeared to be a major announcement concerning unemployment benefits. The video was widely circulated, and it was believed to be a significant policy shift by the Assam government.

The video caption read, "Rupees 2 lakh will be deposited free to every unemployed youth in Assam, no guarantee required! CM Himanta Biswa Sarma's big announcement. Assam government will deposit Rs 2 lakh free in the bank accounts of every unemployed boys and girls."

However, the confusion escalated when Chief Minister Sarma reposted the post with a different message. His repost on post stated, "I have not made any such announcement. I stated that we will provide benefits of Rs 2 lakhs limited to 2 lakh youth in two phases."

This conflicting information left the public perplexed and seeking clarification on the actual stance of the Assam government regarding unemployment benefits.

In response to the confusion, various political figures and experts in Assam have weighed in on the situation. Some have criticized the initial video for causing unnecessary excitement and misinterpretation, while others believe that the government's messaging should be clearer and more consistent.

Executive Editor of News Live, Nanda Pratim Sharma Bordoloi, commented on the issue, saying, "I am sorry that my tweet misrepresented the original interpretation of honourable Chief Minister's statement. This is totally unintentional and a mistake made unknowingly. I would hope that the scheme planned by the government for the unemployed youth will pay off."
