Guwahati, Assam - October 09, 2023: In a remarkable display of swift action and collaboration, the Education Minister of Assam, Ranoj Pegu, and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, led efforts to safely bring back all Assam students stranded in Sikkim due to a natural disaster. The operation, which involved round-the-clock coordination and alternative routes, successfully ensured the return of the students to Guwahati.

The crisis began when a natural disaster struck Sikkim, cutting off normal routes and leaving students from Assam stranded far from home. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu took to social media to update the public on the situation. In a tweet posted on X, he expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his concern and efforts to bring the students home safely.

"I received them at hotel Radisson Blu and welcomed them home this morning," Minister Pegu stated in his tweet. His heartfelt thanks extended to the officers and other staff of the Assam Government who had traveled to Sikkim to assist in the rescue mission.

Despite the challenging circumstances, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also posted on X, emphasizing the successful efforts to bring the stranded students back. "Despite normal routes being closed, we were able to bring back our students home in the shortest possible time through alternative roads, with round-the-clock coordination with the Sikkim Government," he shared.

The rescue operation showcased exemplary teamwork and efficient coordination between the Assam and Sikkim governments. Both leaders expressed their appreciation for the collaborative efforts of the teams in both states.
