Nation Outraged: Pune Resident in Custody for Manipur Teenagers' Kidnapping and Tragic Fate
22-year-old Paolunmang detained and sent to Guwahati after CBI arrest
New Delhi - October 13, 2023: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken a significant step in resolving a disturbing case involving the abduction and tragic demise of two teenagers in Manipur. According to authorities, a 22-year-old man, believed to be the mastermind behind these heinous acts, was apprehended in Pune.

On Wednesday, a specialized team from the CBI conducted the detention of the suspect, identified as Paolunmang, in Pune. Subsequently, he was transported to Guwahati, Assam, for further legal proceedings. In court, the CBI was granted custody of Paolunmang until October 16.

Authorities working on the case have reason to believe that Paolunmang played a pivotal role in the incident that has elicited nationwide outrage. The tragic events began to unfold on October 1 when the CBI apprehended four individuals - Paominlun Haokip and Smalsawm Haokip, both males, along with two females, Lhingneichong Baitekuki and Tinneilhing Henthang - in the town of Churachandpur, Manipur. These four suspects were also transferred to Guwahati for further legal proceedings.

The heartbreaking saga commenced on July 6 when two teenagers went missing, leaving their loved ones in anguish and despair. The distressing situation escalated when images of their lifeless bodies surfaced on social media on September 25. This horrifying revelation ignited a wave of protests, particularly by students, in Manipur's capital city, Imphal.

The arrest of Paolunmang marks a significant development in the quest for justice in this deeply troubling case. As the investigation continues, the nation watches with bated breath, hopeful that those responsible for these heinous acts will be brought to justice, and that the families of the victims will finally find closure in this tragic chapter.
