Assam Youth Congress in Turmoil as Working President Poritush Roy Resigns, Citing Grievances Against 'Dynastic Politics
Resignations Shake Assam Pradesh Youth Congress as Key Leaders Exit Party Ranks
Guwahati, November 12, 2023:
In a significant blow to the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress, working president Poritush Roy and former president of the Nagaon District Congress Committee, Suresh Bora, tendered their resignations from the party on November 11, 2023. The simultaneous departure of these prominent figures raises questions about the party's internal dynamics and future direction.

Poritush Roy, in his resignation letter addressed to the national president of the Indian National Congress, expressed profound dissatisfaction with the party's functioning. He stated, "I would like to let you know that I would not be able to continue in this organization, as it is favoring only Blue Blooded people. It is now felt that the voice of people like us, who come from the lower strata of society, is not heard in this organization. While working in this organization, I have realized that, from Dispur to Delhi, this organization prefers Family First and Nation Last."

This development follows closely on the heels of Suresh Bora, the former president of the Nagaon District Congress, also resigning from the party. The dual resignations point towards deeper issues within the party structure and may impact the morale of its members.

Sources indicate that both Poritush Roy and Suresh Bora have expressed their eagerness to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This aligns with a broader trend of political realignments and shifts in the political landscape of Assam.

Suresh Bora, who had earlier resigned from the primary membership of the party, made his departure a public event, accompanied by a large number of supporters. The visible show of support underscores the ripple effect these resignations might have on the grassroots level.

As the dust settles from these resignations, political analysts are closely watching the unfolding scenario, contemplating how it might influence the political landscape in Assam. The departure of these key leaders raises questions not only about the internal dynamics of the Congress party but also about the potential impact on regional politics.

The Indian National Congress now faces the challenge of addressing the concerns raised by its departing members and navigating the implications of their shift to rival political camps. As the state gears up for upcoming political developments, the resignations of Poritush Roy and Suresh Bora mark a notable chapter in Assam's political narrative.
