Guwahati, Assam - November 30, 2023:
In a proactive move towards promoting road safety, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Scooty distribution ceremony at the Veterinary College Field, Khanapara, under the Pragyan Bharati Scheme.

Emphasis on Road Safety:
During the event, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma took the opportunity to address the audience, emphasizing the importance of road safety. He posed a crucial question to the recipients of the scooters: "Do you have a driving license?" The Chief Minister emphasized that possessing a valid driving license is a prerequisite for operating a scooty, underscoring the significance of adhering to traffic regulations.

Helmet Mandate:
Continuing his address, CM Sarma highlighted another essential aspect of road safety – wearing a helmet. He asserted that wearing a helmet is not only a legal requirement but a crucial measure for the safety of riders. "Without a driving license and proper safety gear, you cannot responsibly ride a scooty," he stated, urging the recipients to prioritize safety in their journeys.

Pragyan Bharati Scheme:
The distribution ceremony was part of the Pragyan Bharati Scheme, an initiative aimed at empowering students with scooters to enhance their accessibility and mobility. CM Sarma commended the scheme for its role in facilitating better transportation options for students.
