Sonari, Assam, November 25, 2023 – In a significant development, two active cadres of the banned militant outfit United Liberation Front of Assam - Independent (ULFA-I) surrendered in Sonari, marking a crucial victory for security forces combating insurgency in the region.

The surrendered militants have been identified as 'Captain' Nayan Patmaut and Deepak Hatibaruah. Nayan Patmaut hails from Lukhurakhon village in Sonari, while Deepak Hatibaruah comes from Digboi in Tinsukia.
