10 January, 24: In a historic operation, the Assam Police, in collaboration with the Special Task Force (STF) and Karimganj Police, achieved a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the groundbreaking news on social media, revealing the details of the operation that led to the seizure of drugs valued at over ₹100 crore.

The joint operation, conducted at Suprakandi, proved to be a major success with the recovery of a substantial quantity of illicit substances. The seized contraband includes a staggering 5.1 kilograms of heroin, 64,000 YABA tablets, and four packets of foreign cigarettes. This substantial haul marks one of the most substantial drug seizures in the region, underscoring the gravity of the operation.

The diligent efforts of the Assam Police, STF, and Karimganj Police have resulted in the arrest of four individuals linked to the illegal drug trade. The successful coordination among law enforcement agencies has not only led to the removal of a significant quantity of narcotics from circulation but also dealt a blow to the networks facilitating the illicit drug trade.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the exemplary work of the Assam Police and expressed his appreciation for their commitment to eradicating the drug menace. The use of social media to announce the success of the operation reflects a proactive approach in keeping the public informed about the state's efforts to curb illegal activities.

The recovery of such a massive quantity of heroin, along with a substantial number of YABA tablets and foreign cigarettes, is expected to disrupt the operations of drug traffickers in the region. The arrest of individuals involved in this illicit trade serves as a deterrent and reinforces the state's commitment to creating a drug-free society.

The success of this operation reinforces the need for continued vigilance and collaborative efforts to combat the challenges posed by the illegal drug market.
