Assam University Introduces CUET (UG) for Undergraduate Admissions in Affiliated Colleges
Transparent and Fair: Assam University Mandates CUET (UG) for 100% Intake Capacity Filling
Silchar, Assam - 25 March, 24: In a significant move aimed at streamlining the undergraduate admissions process, Assam University (a Central University) has announced the implementation of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to Four Year Under Graduate (FYUG) courses in all affiliated degree colleges.

The decision, which was finalized during a meeting with Principals of all affiliated degree colleges on 07.03.2024 and duly approved by the competent authority of Assam University, marks a pivotal shift in the admissions procedure.

According to the notification issued by Dr. P. K. Nath, Registrar of Assam University, all affiliated degree colleges will now fill up 100% of their intake capacity through CUET (UG) from the academic session 2024-2025. This move aims to standardize the admissions process and ensure fairness and transparency in the selection of candidates.

Furthermore, the notification mandates that all colleges must prominently display the mandatory requirement of CUET (UG) for admission to FYUG courses on their respective websites and prospectuses. This will enable aspiring students to have clear visibility into the admission criteria and make informed decisions regarding their academic pursuits.

However, the notification also stipulates that any vacant seats, if remaining after the CUET (UG) admissions process, may be filled up with non-CUET candidates through the standard admission process of the respective colleges. This provision ensures that all available seats are efficiently utilized, maximizing opportunities for students seeking admission.

The directive has been disseminated to the Principals of all affiliated degree colleges under Assam University for their information and necessary action. Additionally, it has been brought to the attention of the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of Assam University for kind information.

To ensure widespread circulation, the notification will be uploaded to the University website by the Director of the Computer Centre, facilitating access for all stakeholders involved in the admissions process.

With the introduction of CUET (UG) for undergraduate admissions, Assam University aims to enhance the efficiency and transparency of the admissions process while upholding the principles of meritocracy and equal opportunity in higher education.
