Tezpur, 8 March, 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his visit to Assam with a warm reception in Tezpur, where he was greeted by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other dignitaries. The Prime Minister's visit to the state holds significance as he embarks on a tour to various landmarks, including the renowned Kaziranga National Park.

Upon his arrival, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Prime Minister would be heading to Kaziranga National Park for an overnight stay and safari scheduled for the following morning. This visit underscores the government's commitment to preserving India's natural heritage and promoting tourism in the region.

In a tweet, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his excitement about the Prime Minister's forthcoming visit to Kaziranga, where he will pay homage to the legendary Lachit Barphukan by dedicating the 'Statue of Valour' in Jorhat. The statue serves as a tribute to Barphukan's courageous resistance against invaders and stands as a symbol of valor for the people of Bharat.

Accompanied by Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Prime Minister Modi was received at the Kohora Helipad in Kaziranga with great enthusiasm. The Prime Minister is scheduled to spend the night at the World Heritage Site, immersing himself in its natural beauty before embarking on a safari excursion the following morning.

Expressing his delight upon arrival in Golaghat district, Assam, Prime Minister Modi shared his appreciation for the state's diverse and vibrant culture.
