TMC Connection?: Seizure of 12,000 Gelatin Sticks Triggers Scrutiny, NIA Probes Possible TMC Linkages.
Explosives Seizure in Birbhum: West Bengal Police Uncover Massive Cache
Birbhum, WB: In a significant breakthrough, the West Bengal Police made a substantial discovery of explosives in Birbhum district. Acting on credible intelligence, officers from Birbhum's Rampurhat police station executed a search operation at an abandoned residence. The result was the seizure of around 12,000 gelatin sticks, a type of explosive, neatly packed in approximately 60 containers.

The operation was the result of diligent work following a tip-off. A West Bengal police spokesperson stated, "Acting on reliable information, Rampurhat police station's team successfully retrieved around 12,000 gelatin sticks from an unoccupied house in proximity to Radipur village within Rampurhat police station's jurisdiction." The ownership of the abandoned property remains undisclosed as investigations proceed.

This isn't the initial instance of law enforcement discovering dangerous explosives within Birbhum district. The region has previously come under the scanner for similar incidents. The National Investigating Agency (NIA), a federal investigative body, is presently engaged in probing an earlier case involving a staggering 81,000 gelatin sticks and detonators seized by the West Bengal Police Special Task Force (STF) during a vehicle interception in Mohammad Bazar of Birbhum district.

The NIA has escalated its involvement, filing chargesheets and supplementary documents within the purview of a dedicated court in Kolkata. In a related development, NIA apprehended a triumphant Trinamool Congress (TMC) panchayat candidate, Manoj Kumar Gosh, for allegedly storing a significant volume of explosive materials and firearms within his storage facility. This led to subsequent questioning and arrest of another TMC member, Islam Chowdhury.

The recent recovery of explosives underscores the need for vigilance and comprehensive law enforcement efforts in tackling security threats. The ongoing investigations are anticipated to shed light on the intricate network behind such incidents and further reinforce security measures.
