Additional Superintendent of Police, Shamir Daptari Baruah, has revealed that the detained individuals are currently undergoing rigorous interrogation as investigators work to unravel the motives and those behind the shocking attack.

The distressing assault unfolded on Wednesday evening when Tunkhansiam Paite, the dedicated manager of the Nutanbazar branch of Punjab National Bank, fell victim to a brutal attack by a group of assailants. The attack occurred at approximately 8 pm as Paite was making his way home from the bank.
Swift action was taken to provide immediate medical assistance to Paite. He was promptly rushed to Hailakandi's SK Roy Civil Hospital, where he received initial treatment before being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for critical care.
