Transnational Plot Uncovered: Myanmar and Bangladesh-Based Terror Outfits Target Manipur
Imphal, September 30, 2023: In a significant development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended Seiminlun Gangte from Churachandpur district in Manipur. This arrest is part of a larger case involving a transnational conspiracy hatched by terror outfits with links to Myanmar and Bangladesh-based leadership. The objective of this conspiracy is to incite ethnic unrest in the State of Manipur and wage war against the Government of India.
The case, registered suo moto by the NIA on July 19, 2023, in New Delhi, sheds light on a deeply concerning plot that involves multiple actors seeking to exploit the current ethnic tensions in Manipur.
The investigation under RC 24/2023/NIA/DLI by the NIA has revealed a complex web of collaboration between militant groups based in Myanmar and Bangladesh and certain militant leaders within India. Their sinister plan involves orchestrating incidents of violence with the intention of sowing discord among different ethnic communities and ultimately destabilizing the government.
To execute their nefarious designs, the aforementioned leadership has been funneling funds to acquire arms, ammunition, and various other forms of terrorist hardware. These materials are being sourced from both across the border and from other active terrorist organizations operating in the northeastern states of India. The aim is to exacerbate the ongoing ethnic strife in Manipur, creating a volatile and precarious situation.
Seiminlun Gangte, the accused, has been apprehended and subsequently transported to New Delhi. He will be presented before the Jurisdictional Court, where legal proceedings will follow as the case unfolds.
