Dr. Banikanta Kakati Award Scheme Encourages Academic Excellence
Guwahati, November 2, 2023 - In a significant move to encourage academic excellence, the Assam government declared on November 1 that it will be awarding scooters to outstanding students in the state under the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Award Scheme. The announcement was made during the weekly cabinet meeting held yesterday, which saw several pivotal decisions being taken to promote education and empower the youth.
Under the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Award Scheme, male students achieving a remarkable score of 75 percent and above, and female students with 60 percent and above in their Class 12 examinations conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will be eligible to receive scooters provided by the state government. The awards are set to be distributed on November 30, 2023, in an effort to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of these exceptional students.
A total of 30,209 female students and 5,566 male students will soon be proud recipients of these scooters, thanks to this prestigious award scheme. This initiative is aimed at not only recognizing the academic prowess of these students but also encouraging them to excel in their future endeavors.
Furthermore, the Assam government has also extended its support to students who have achieved 75 percent and above in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations conducted by the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA). These students will be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 15,000 each as part of the Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme on November 29, 2023.
In total, 27,183 students, both male and female, will benefit from this award, fostering a culture of academic achievement and offering financial assistance as they embark on their educational journeys.
