Prime Minister Modi Launches Ambitious Projects During Assam Visit
Assam's Development Accelerates with PM Modi's Strategic Initiatives
Guwahati, 7 March, 24: During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a slew of transformative projects aimed at bolstering the state's healthcare infrastructure and energy sector. Sarma revealed that PM Modi would inaugurate the Tinsukia Medical College and lay the foundation stone for the Sivasagar Medical College, marking significant strides in healthcare accessibility under the PM-DIVINE scheme.

The prime minister also laid the foundation stone for the expansion of the Digboi Refinery, a vital step towards enhancing the region's petroleum refining capacity. With an investment of Rs 768 crores, the project aims to increase the refinery's output from 0.65 Million Metric Tonnes (MT) to 1 Million MT, promising economic growth and job opportunities for the region.

Additionally, PM Modi initiated the expansion of the Guwahati Refinery, allocating Rs 510 crores to elevate its capacity from 1 million MT to 1.2 million MT. This strategic move is poised to fortify Assam's position as a key player in the petroleum industry, fostering industrial development and driving economic prosperity.

Furthermore, the prime minister inaugurated the ambitious pipeline project linking Barauni to Guwahati, with a staggering investment of Rs 3,992 crores. This infrastructural marvel not only promises efficient transportation of petroleum products but also serves as a testament to the government's commitment to regional connectivity and development.

In addition to these initiatives, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma disclosed PM Modi's itinerary, highlighting his visit to Kaziranga National Park on March 9th. The prime minister is slated to spend two hours at the renowned wildlife sanctuary before proceeding to Arunachal Pradesh for further engagements. Upon his return to Assam, PM Modi will inaugurate the Great Ahom General Lachit Borphukan and address a public rally at Meleng Meteli, where he will also distribute 5,55,550 PMAY houses to beneficiaries.

Prime Minister Modi's visit underscores the government's unwavering dedication to fostering holistic growth and development in Assam.
