Manipur Grapples with Devastating Floods, CM Leads Crisis Response Efforts
Urgent Meeting Mobilizes Ministers, Officials to Tackle Flood Devastation
In a race against time, the Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh, has mobilized the state machinery to combat the catastrophic floods ravaging the region. As incessant rains and Cyclone Remal's fury unleashed torrents across the state, Singh chaired a crucial high-level meeting to strategize and coordinate relief operations.

The emergency summit, attended by ministers, MLAs, top officials, and security personnel, underscored the urgency of the situation. With lives and livelihoods hanging in the balance, the focus was on enhancing ongoing rescue and rehabilitation initiatives to reach the worst-affected areas swiftly.

Taking to the popular social media platform X, CM Singh kept the public informed about the state's proactive measures, reflecting transparency and a commitment to safeguarding the well-being of Manipur's citizens.

Under the guidance of Principal Secretary Arun Kumar Sinha, a 24/7 Control Room has been established at the Banquet Hall of the 1st Bn Manipur Rifles. This strategic hub aims to streamline communication and expedite responses to the evolving needs on the ground.

The Directorate of Information and Public Relations has played a pivotal role in disseminating crucial information to the public through press releases. Recognizing the importance of accessible communication during crises, temporary alternate contact numbers have been provided to ensure uninterrupted access to essential services, circumventing technical glitches affecting toll-free helplines.

For children in distress, the alternate numbers "7005120197" or "8132953592" have been made available due to issues with the toll-free "1098" helpline. Similarly, women in need can reach out on "7005776144" as an alternative to the disrupted "181" helpline.

As Manipur grapples with the unprecedented challenges posed by the floods, CM Singh's leadership and the collective efforts of the state administration underscore a resolute commitment to safeguarding lives and restoring normalcy in the afflicted regions.
