Kokrajhar Teacher Arrested for Objectionable Social Media Remarks on Delhi Blast

A private school teacher from Parbatjhora in Assam’s Kokrajhar district has been taken into custody for allegedly sharing objectionable comments on social media regarding the recent Delhi blast, officials confirmed.

Teacher from Debitala Identified as Accused

The arrested individual has been identified as Enamul Hoque, a resident of Debitala Part 3 under Kazigaon Police Station limits. He was serving as a teacher at Shantipur National School before his arrest.

Police registered a case (No. 71/2025) and booked him under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 113(3), 153, 352 and 353(2). Following his detention, Hoque was produced before the district judicial court in Kokrajhar.

Assam Intensifies Action Against Online Support for Blast

The incident forms part of a larger statewide operation targeting individuals posting online content allegedly supporting or praising the Delhi blast. According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, authorities have so far detained 17 people across Assam for similar activities.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government maintains a strict zero-tolerance stance toward extremism and hate content. He stated that over 100 suspicious social media posts are currently under scrutiny, and the crackdown will continue until all those involved are traced.

Cyber Surveillance Strengthened Across State

Assam Police and cyber monitoring teams have heightened surveillance on digital platforms to curb the spread of provocative or extremist-leaning posts. Officials said more arrests could follow as investigations progress.
