Assam Chief Minister Applauds Karbi Indigenous Faith as Guardian Against Drugs and Insurgency Threats, Unveils Vision for Religious Tourism Center
Ancient Beliefs Triumph: Sarma Applauds Karbi Community for Tackling Drugs and Insurgency
Karbi Anglong, Assam - 26 November, 2023: In a compelling proclamation on November 26, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extolled the ancient indigenous faith of the Karbi people, attributing it to the successful containment of drug and insurgency threats in the region. Addressing a public gathering at Lokhiman Ashram in Karbi Anglong, Sarma underscored the pivotal role played by the Karbi community's time-honored beliefs in instigating positive societal transformations.

Sarma passionately highlighted the historical emergence of Amphu Rongpharpi Rongbe, a legendary figure who catalyzed a transformative movement within Karbi society 600-700 years ago. The Chief Minister recounted the heroine's prophecy, foreseeing a revival of Karbi culture and the recognition of women's integral roles in devotional, religious, and social activities.

This transformative vision materialized with the birth of Lokhoingti on June 26, 1946, who, armed with divine knowledge, propagated the Lakhi Dharma, prioritizing the praise of the Lord over traditional sacrificial practices. The efforts of Guru Lakhaingti Hendcheng, the trailblazer of Lakhi Dharma, ushered in a religious renaissance liberating Karbi society from drug abuse and superstition.

Expressing optimism for the future, Sarma declared his belief in the realization of Guru Mandaningti Hendcheng's dream of a temple atop the hill. "I declare in this meeting itself to sanction Rs 5 crore from the Assam government fund for the construction of the temple," Sarma announced, envisioning the transformation of Dolamara into a tourist attraction, akin to the famed Kaziranga.

Adding to the fervor, Sarma emphasized the divine music of Karbi Anglong's Lokhimon Sangha and their commitment to preserving and promoting the ancient traditions of Bharat's Adivasi Samaj. Aligned with the Hon'ble PM's mantra of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas, the government pledged to transform Dolamara Lokhimon Ashram, situated behind Kaziranga National Park, into a center of religious tourism.

Highlighting the Lokhimon Sangha's integral role in ensuring gender parity in Karbi Society, Sarma expressed the government's commitment to fostering inclusivity and preserving the cultural heritage of the region. The Chief Minister's comprehensive vision encompasses not only the protection of traditional beliefs but also the elevation of Dolamara into a vibrant hub of religious tourism, echoing the spirit of unity and development.
