Dillai, Karbi Anglong - 17 November, 2023: In a significant anti-drug operation, the police in Karbi Anglong, Assam, successfully intercepted a Tata Winger van, AS 01KC 9014, coming from Manipur. The operation, conducted on Thursday, November 16, under the jurisdiction of Dillai police station, resulted in the recovery of heroin estimated to be worth around Rs. 15 crore.

During the thorough checking of the van, authorities discovered 130 plastic cases concealed in the door panels. The total weight of the seized drug amounts to 1.652 kg. The successful operation led to the apprehension of two individuals, identified as Mohammad Elias Ali and Mohammad Sirajuddin, both hailing from Manipur.

Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, acknowledged the commendable efforts of the karbi Anglong Police in a post on social media platform X. The Chief Minister praised the vigilance and efficiency displayed during the operation that resulted in the recovery of 130 soap cases containing the suspected heroin.

The boxes were discreetly stashed in a hidden chamber within the vehicle, emphasizing the calculated attempts to transport the contraband undetected. The two individuals from Manipur, apprehended in connection with the drug seizure, are now in custody.
