Scholarship Opportunity: Rs 80,000 per Year for Students from North-Eastern States
Government Announces Generous Scholarships for North-Eastern Students
New Delhi, November 05, 2023: In a commendable initiative to support students from the North-Eastern states, the Government of India is offering scholarships worth Rs 80,000 annually. Through the National Scholarship Portal, the government aims to grant nearly 10,000 scholarships, providing Rs 8,000 per month for 10 months to deserving students. Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply before the deadline of December 31, 2023.

The scholarships are designed to benefit students hailing from the economically weaker sections of the North-Eastern region. Selection for these scholarships is solely based on state-wise merit from applicants who apply through the designated National Scholarship Portal of the Government of India. A critical requirement for eligibility is possessing a valid Domicile Certificate from any state in the North-Eastern region.

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for these scholarships, applicants must have successfully passed the Class 12 or equivalent examination from a school located within the North-Eastern region, following a recognized board of education. Moreover, the scholarship is available exclusively to students pursuing undergraduate degree programs specified and notified by the University Grants Commission.

It's crucial to note that only students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs through the 'Regular/Full Time' mode are eligible for these scholarships. Those pursuing undergraduate programs via open, distance, correspondence, private, or part-time modes are not eligible to apply. Furthermore, these scholarships are applicable for the first undergraduate degree only, and individuals who have already acquired a degree are not eligible to apply.

One of the key criteria for eligibility is the annual income of the applicant's parents. To qualify, their annual income should not exceed Rs 4.5 lakh per annum.

This scholarship initiative is a significant step toward promoting higher education and easing the financial burden on students from the North-Eastern states. Interested and eligible candidates are urged to visit the National Scholarship Portal and submit their applications before the deadline on December 31, 2023. Don't miss this excellent opportunity to further your education and unlock your full potential.
