Assam Election Dynamics: AIUDF Leader Questions Rahul Gandhi's Yatra Amidst Congress Internal Strife
Political Dynamics Unfold as Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Stirs Controversy in Assam.
ASSAM, 3 February 2024: In the run-up to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Assam is witnessing a tumultuous political landscape, with the focus on Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. AIUDF leader Rafiqul Islam has expressed concern over the internal rifts within the Congress party, highlighting the departure of several leaders to the BJP.

Islam remarked, "With just two months left for the elections, Congress is grappling with internal groupism. Despite this, Rahul Gandhi persists with his yatra. Many Congress leaders, including a senior figure in Maharashtra and former ministers in Assam, have switched allegiance to the BJP. Nitish Kumar has also joined the NDA."

Critics argue that instead of addressing these internal challenges, Rahul Gandhi's focus on the yatra might be counterproductive. Islam opined, "I think he is only wasting time by doing this yatra." He suggested that Congress should consider sacrificing some seats and collaborating with regional parties for a more strategic approach.

While the Congress deals with internal matters, the BJP seems to be gearing up for the Lok Sabha polls aggressively. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and BJP president JP Nadda have all made visits to Assam, indicating the party's commitment to the state. Senior BJP leaders have been actively engaging with the public and holding regular meetings.

In contrast, the AIUDF leader criticized the Congress, stating, "They don't do anything; they are sleeping." This observation raises questions about the Congress party's preparedness and strategy in the face of the approaching elections.

As the political landscape continues to evolve in Assam, the contrast in the approaches of the major parties sets the stage for a dynamic and closely-watched election season.
