Dr. Ranjan Kr Kakati Receives Best Performing MY Bharat–NSS Programme Coordinator Award

Dr. Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Director of Students’ Welfare and Programme Coordinator of the NSS Cell, Gauhati University, has been honoured with the Best Performing MY Bharat–NSS Programme Coordinator Award at the national-level Chintan Shivir held at IIM Shillong on May 29–30, 2026.
The prestigious award was conferred by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs, MY Bharat, and NSS.
Dr. Kakati received the recognition for his outstanding contribution to community service, youth development, and social welfare activities in Assam. Under his leadership, the Gauhati University NSS Cell, which supervises over 156 NSS units, has significantly expanded programmes on environmental conservation, disaster preparedness, blood donation, health awareness, anti-drug campaigns, plantation drives, and rural development initiatives.
Gauhati University and Dr. Kakati were the first recipients from Assam to receive the National NSS Award (2019–20), which was conferred by former President of India Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhawan on September 24, 2021. Dr. Kakati also received the Assam State NSS Award (2021–22), conferred by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the presence of former Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.
Dr. Kakati has played a pivotal role in inspiring youth towards nation-building and social responsibility. His achievement has brought pride to Gauhati University and the NSS movement in Assam.
