Rajasthan Royals Announce Ticket Refunds for Abandoned IPL Match Against KKR

Guwahati– The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have announced a refund process for fans who purchased tickets to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), which was scheduled for Sunday, May 19, in Guwahati. The match, which was supposed to mark the end of the IPL 2024 league phase, was abandoned due to inclement weather, with no play possible.

In a social media announcement, RR advised ticket holders to keep their physical tickets intact. The franchise assured fans that refunds at face value would be processed through BookMyShow. Further details regarding the refund process will be provided by BookMyShow. 

RR's announcement on their social media handle stated, "Unfortunate evening but thank you for your patience. Keep your tickets physically intact for the refund process. A refund of the face value of the ticket will be provided to the valid ticket holders."

Rajasthan Royals began their season strongly, playing their first five games at their home ground in Jaipur, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, winning four out of five matches. The team then moved to their adopted home ground, Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, for the remaining two games. Unfortunately, their performance at Barsapara was less than ideal, with a loss to Punjab Kings and a washout against KKR.

Despite these setbacks, RR had a successful season, securing a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs with eight wins out of the first nine games. However, a series of four consecutive losses, followed by the abandoned match, saw them slip to third place on the points table. Sunrisers Hyderabad overtook them, reaching 17 points with a superior net run rate.

Looking ahead, Rajasthan Royals will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the eliminator match at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, May 22. RCB, coming into the playoffs with six consecutive wins, will pose a formidable challenge. The winner of this match will advance to face the loser of the first qualifier.
