Key accused in recent Kakopathar Army Camp attack held; arms and ammunition recovered
In a major breakthrough against insurgent activities, a joint operation by the Arunachal Pradesh Police and the Assam Rifles led to the arrest of a United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) cadre in Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh, on the morning of October 26.
The arrested militant has been identified as Anupam Dohotia, alias Thousen Axom, a resident of Barekuri in Tinsukia district, Assam. According to officials, Dohotia was a key member involved in the recent ULFA (I) attack on the Kakopathar Army Camp in Tinsukia on October 17.
During the operation, the security forces recovered a significant cache of weapons and explosives from his possession, including:
- One MQ rifle
- 151 rounds of live ammunition
- One bottle grenade
- One rifle grenade
Authorities stated that the militant is currently being interrogated by the Namsai Police to uncover possible links, hideouts, and future plans of ULFA (I) in the region.
Officials described the arrest as a “strategic success”, emphasizing that it marks an important step in the ongoing efforts to curb cross-border militant activities along the Assam–Arunachal Pradesh border.
